The Locket

Texture: pumice x microsequin float

Scent: blackberry vanilla

Beneath your boot, a glint of brass
cuts through the forest floor,
a rusty locket left behind
by someone gone before.

You wonder who was passing through
this deep and silent wood,
and pop the heavy, rusted hinge
just as you never should.
