Guests who linger in the Fireside Parlor after midnight sometimes notice the flames begin to change.

The warm golden fire slowly turns a pale, ghostly blue, and before long, the room becomes strangely cold.

Those who have witnessed it say the fire continues to burn brightly, yet gives off no warmth at all. The colder the room becomes, the quieter the parlor seems, until even the ticking of the clock falls silent.

One guest once stayed long enough to watch the blue flames rise higher and higher in the grate until a soft blue haze fell over the room.

When he finally reached for the door, frost had formed across the handle.

In the darkness, someone whispered his name from the empty chair beside the fire.

Then the flames suddenly went out.
