The tale of the Crimson Pool...

There is an old story among the hotel staff about the night the swimming pool turned red.

According to those who were there, the water had been perfectly clear when the pool closed for the evening, glowing softly beneath the underwater lights. Sometime after midnight, the night clerk heard splashing outside and went to investigate.

The pool was empty.

But the water had changed. It had turned a deep, murky crimson, rippling gently beneath the lights. He searched the deck and the surrounding rooms, but there was no sign of anyone.

Then a guest appeared on the balcony above the pool.

She said she had been watching the water from her room when she saw someone walking slowly across the bottom of the pool. The figure disappeared just before reaching the deep end.

The clerk looked down again.

There was nothing there.

By the time the manager arrived, the water had returned to its usual clear blue.

But at the bottom of the deep end, they found a single pearl earring resting on the tile.
